Once you’ve finished your initial round of exploration, follow your compass to Black Isle. Defeat it and the first section of the game will be unlocked for your exploration. As soon as your craft is repaired, you’re tossed into a battle with a sea serpent. You’ll eventually need to leave the island via the hovercraft and limp to the repair shop. Just follow the list in the guide until you’ve gotten everything on the island. You can return to the island throughout the game, but once you’ve picked up your camera and received your first job, this is an optimal time to start in on photographing the animals around you. Once the first fight, which doubles as tutorial of sorts, is over, you can explore the island.
